Day 1, Sept 15 – Welcome to Slovenia! Arrive in Ljubljana and enjoy private transportation to your hotel. Enjoy time to rest and relax before meeting your travel companions for a welcome dinner at Ljubljana Castle.

 

Day 2, Sept 16 – Picture Perfect. Visit Vintgar Gorge, a canyon cut deep into towering hills by Radovna River’s turquoise waters. Make your way to Lake Bled, often called the most beautiful lake in the world. Take in the iconic castle and cathedral and hike to an overlook.

 
 

CULTURE & HISTORY IN THE SOčA VALLEY

Day 3, Sept 17 – Local cuisine. At the foot of the Alps, learn about the area’s specialty Tolmin cheese from a local artisan. Wind your way down to a village in the Soča Valley. Enjoy dinner on your own or indulge at a Michelin-star restaurant (optional).

 

Day 4, Sept 18 – Explore Triglav park. Today your guide will take you to some of the best trails and vistas as you explore Slovenia’s national gem. Expect to be mesmerized with one breathtaking view after another.

 

Day 5, Sept 19 – Mountain  sunrise. Greet the morning with a spectacular view and an in-depth discovery of World War I history. Visit one of Europe’s best history museums. Learn of the area’s unique honey and the bees that make it before a visit to Kozjak Waterfalls.

 

Day 6, Sept 20 – Walled city. Learn about Istria’s regional meats, cheese and wines at the home of a local artisan. Then explore the small walled city of Motovun and the many boutique shops it offers. Continue on to the colorful seaside town of Rovinj.

Day 7, Sept 21 – Charming Rovinj. Enjoy a relaxing day around Rovinj. There’s so much to explore! Discover the cobblestone streets, small shops, and quaint cafes. Laze by the seaside or take a light hike. Meet with your travel companions for a sunset cruise on the Adriatic.

 

Day 8, Sept 22 – Local artisans. Today’s highlights include a visit to a small art colony overlooking the Mirna Valley. Then an olive oil tasting to  learn flavors nuances and how this exceptional product is made.

 
 

OLD WORLD CHARM

Day 9, Sept 23 – Castles & Old World Charm. Start out your day touring Predjama Castle. Then get a historical walking tour of the Old World city of Ljubljana, a visitor’s dream.

 

Day 10, Sept 24 – Final goodbyes. After breakfast, say final goodbyes to your traveling companions before preparing for your flight home. We hope you come again!

    This is an active trip. Guests should be prepared to do several hours of walking on certain days, navigate uneven streets, climb stairs, and walk light trails. There will be free time for those who want to do more intense hiking.
