Slovenia and Croatia are a photographer’s dream. Sparkling, clear turquoise streams and waterfalls; islands and white rocky shorelines, rows of vineyards, alpine wildflowers adorned with honeybees, and cafés filled with locals catching up in the late afternoon sun–they all mean plentiful opportunities for capturing the beauty of the moment.

Rather than a workshop tour, this photography tour focuses on putting you in the right spot at the right time in order to get the perfect shot. The fall foliage typical for this time of year adds an extra element of beauty that you won’t want to miss.

Tour Itinerary

Lake Bled

Day 1 – Start your adventure early this morning in Ljubljana where you’ll meet your fellow traveling companions for an overview of what lies ahead. Then it’s on to picture-perfect Lake Bled. Take a light hike and do some shooting along the Radovna River tucked deep in the Vintgar Gorge. In the afternoon enjoy some free time before a sunset shoot at Church of St. Primoz, a quaint church set against the backdrop of a deep valley and the Kamnik Alps.

Triglav National Park

Day 2 – Capture the sunrise at Lake Bled, a pristine emerald lake nestled in the Julian Alps. After breakfast we’ll make our way to Kranjska Gora with visit to a unique local cheese farm on the way. In the afternoon, depending on the weather, we’ll shoot a set of beautiful waterfalls or hike a nearby pass then end the day with a sunset shoot overlooking one of the area’s most beautiful lakes.

Day 3 – After a sunrise shoot and breakfast, enjoy some free time to explore on your own. In the afternoon, we’ll hike and explore the Tamar Valley, a glacial valley minutes away from the Italian and Austrian borders. We’ll have an evening shoot at a nearby lake before wrapping up the day with an amazing dinner.

Kamnik Alps

Day 4 – Start out the day at sunrise, then discover some of the area’s hidden treasures on your own or take an optional hike. After a traditional Balkan lunch in a unique setting, we’ll do some exploring on the drive to Zgornje Jezersko, a settlement south of Karawanks mountain range, After this evening’s sunset shoot, we’ll make our way to the sanctuary of the Robanov Kot Valley.

Day 5 – Greet the morning at a nearby scenic road. After a hearty breakfast at a mountain farm, enjoy a free morning. In the afternoon, we’ll have the chance for a cultural interaction in the local community. Then we’ll make our way to the stretches of meadows and mountains in Logarska Dolina for a sunset shoot before dinner together.

Day 6 – A sunrise shoot and then visit Predjama Castle, a dramatic Renaissance castle tucked inside the opening of a cave. For lunch, experience a light meal of traditional Slovene food and meet a local winemaker from the Kras region, famous for its Teran wines. Then wind your way further south to Rovinj, a gorgeous fishing town with colorful architecture that sits majestically on the Adriatic Sea.

Day 7 – Rise with the sun in charming Rovinj and its cobblestone streets. After breakfast you have the option of spending time in and around Rovinj or taking a day trip to the Pula arena, an amphitheatre that dates to Roman times, and then to a local olive grove for an olive oil tasting. End the day with a sunset shoot.

Plitvice – Zagreb
