Chiang Mai, Thailand’s Rose of the North

Day 1, Nov 4. Welcome to Thailand! Tour begins at 1 pm. Your introduction to Thailand starts with a visit to Doi Suthep, a sacred temple for many Thai people. Along with the traditional architecture and long history, the temple offers a stunning view of the city of Chiang Mai. Afterward, spend time getting to know your group over a delicious welcome dinner.

Day 2, Nov 5. Top of the mountain. The national forest of Doi Inthaton offers cool temperatures and panoramic views. Experience the “evergreen cloud forest” that boasts some unique flora and fauna for this region of the world. After your return late afternoon, take some down time before experiencing a Chiang Mai must—Sunday night walking street.

Day 3, Nov 6. Elephant experience. Get up close and friendly with Thailand’s most notable local—the iconic elephant. You’ll spend the day caring for a few of the 3500 wild or rescued elephants that graze in national parks and sanctuaries today. You’ll be surprised at the connection you feel to these giant creatures. Optional: evening food tour

Day 4, Nov 7. Boutique shopping & Thai massage. Enjoy a leisurely morning before browsing carefully selected boutique shops. Later meet skillful, local artisans who specialize in creative silk weaving, umbrella painting, and ceramics. Wrap up the day with a luxurious Thai massage.

Day 5, Nov 8. Local artisan and village life. Travel to the northern mountains of Thailand to meet a national expert in the tradition of regional pottery and learn about the creative process. After lunch, make your way to a mountain village to discover rural life. Meet local women for a weaving demonstration and try your hand at it if you like.

Southern beaches of Krabi

Day 6, Nov 9. Krabi’s beaches. Today it’s on to the iconic beaches of Krabi. Relax in the lush environs of beautiful resort with multiple pools and restaurants along with private beach access. In the evening experience local Thai cuisine at a nearby venue.

Day 7, Fri Nov 10. Island tour. Pack your sunscreen for this all-day “island hopping adventure”! Take in gorgeous scenery, enjoy a scrumptious picnic, and snorkel, swim or just laze on the sugary sand. Find out why the rich and famous love to vacation on these beaches of southwestern Thailand.

Day 8, Sat Nov 11. Relaxation. Enjoy downtime at the pool or stroll the sandy beaches. Or if you’d like, join a morning excursion to see the Emerald Pool, a favorite destination for local families. Enjoy dinner together.

Bangkok, Venice of the East

Day 9, Sun Nov 12. Bound for Bangkok. After a morning flight, settle in to your hotel then tour the Jim Thompson House. Famed for founding The Thai Silk Company, Thompson’s beautiful home serves as a museum. The art, traditional Thai-style architecture, gardens, and furnishings are an unforgettable backdrop for a wonderful cultural experience.

Day 10, Mon Nov 13. Grand Palace. The glimmering Grand Palace, situated in the heart of the city, is a complex of impressive, artistic structures surrounded by manicured grounds. Explore the grounds and then visit the not-to-be-missed textile museum. Enjoy free time before a farewell dinner

Day 11, Tues Nov 14. Final goodbyes. Enjoy free time to prepare for the upcoming journey home. Say goodbye for now to your new friends and to this beautiful country. We hope you will return with us to the Land of Smiles one day!
