Enjoy an inspiring Plein Air Excursion in the Italian Countryside and Villages!


Pair your love for painting with your desire to explore and travel on this 12-day tour of gorgeous Italy. We’ve carefully selected ideal picturesque venues for plein air enthusiasts that includes off-the-beaten-path destinations in Umbria and Tuscany along with iconic destinations like the Mediterranean’s Cinque Terre.


Rather than a workshop tour, this tour focuses on putting you at perfect destinations for plein air painting. When you aren’t painting, enjoy a fully-guided introduction to Italy’s spectacular history and culture, sample fresh authentic foods, and discover out-of-the-way treasures.


Non-painters are also welcome! We have alternative activities for those not participating in the painting opportunities.

Tour Itinerary


Day 1 Your excursion begins at noon with a walking tour of Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance. You will get an overview of some of its most well-known piazzas and sites, including the Duomo, the Piazza della Signoria, and the Ponte Vecchio. Enjoy free time in the late afternoon before a welcome dinner.

Day 2 Today is yours to enjoy. Take in some of the individual museums, wander, paint and then catch the sunset together overlooking the city.

Levanto, Cinque Terre & The Liguorian Coast

Levanto is a town on the Liguorian coast that has the beauty and seaside views but without the crowds.


Day 3-6 Depart in the morning for the Liguorian coast and the many picturesque villages overlooking the scenic beaches of the Mediterranean. Enjoy outstanding cuisine and fresh seafood caught locally.

Accommodations: Hotel Villa Margherita | Meals:Breakfast and one other meal daily


Daily Rythm

  • 8:30-11:30 am morning painting or guided group activities for travel companions
  • Lunch together and break until early afternoon
  • 3-6 pm afternoon painting or free time to explore for travel companions


Group activities for travel companions include a guided visit to Monterosso and other Cinque Terre villages, light hike along the coastline, optional bike ride or kayaking, boat ride on the Mediterranean. Or, just relax and enjoy.


Cortona in Tuscany

Days 7 – 10 Take in the essence of small town Tuscany. Paint, discover artisan shops, hike, or explore the countryside.The daily rhythm is the same as above.Group activities for travel companions include a unique gallery visit, pasta making from a culinary expert, and a fascinating walking tour.

Days 11 – 12 Early morning departure for Rome. Enjoy lunch together and then take a walking tour of some of Rome’s most famous neighborhoods and sites. Relax over a final farewell dinner. The next day we’ll say our final goodbyes at breakfast. Then enjoy free time or extend your stay in Rome to explore on your own.

Any tour to Italy is usually an active one. Expect to be on your feet several hours a day with a lot of walking on cobblestone streets or uneven surfaces and up and down hills and steps, especially in Cortona and Cinque Terre.


This tour focuses on plein air painting in excellent destinations. The tour includes several activities for traveling companions as well as the opportunity just to embrace la dolce vita, the sweet life.
